It began in a garden
Jessica started in childhood alongside her German herbalist grandmother, harvesting herbs from her garden for teas, salves and tinctures. In the years that followed, she realized what a dying art this is. So she spent her life learning it: formally, in classrooms with experienced herbalists and makers, and later through apprenticeships in Nepal and West Africa. Jessica is a third-generation herbalist, and there is nothing trending about what we make. We wanted to create something that did not exist yet.
The slow way, on purpose
Every formula begins with meticulous measurements. Each herb is tinctured individually, every blend is standardized, and nothing is ever pressed before it is at its peak. We use the ancient techniques Jessica has been studying her whole life. It takes patience, and that is the point. We use only the finest organic herbs, made by hand in small batches. We work with plants that have an extensive history of use. Additives? Never. Some formulas carry a touch of honey, or a bit of organic vanilla or maple. Because everything is made in small batches, subtle variation between bottlings is to be expected.
Sent out with care
Every order goes out with detailed notes on the formulas and the herbs inside. We want you to feel like you really understand what you have and how to use it. Each box is finished with the apothecary’s stamp on the front. Today the apothecary is still a small, two-person workshop, making every batch by hand.
