Could You be at Risk for Erectile Dysfunction?
Here are 3 Signs and Tips for Prevention
Erectile Dysfunction even sounds bad. Can we please find a better name for this? How about a performance lag? A low spell? Because the thing is, you can absolutely get it back.
Despite the fact that ED is on the rise even among younger men, and upwards of 50% of men will deal with it at some point in their lives, it remains shrouded in shame and secrecy. And this very thing all too often prevents us from having important conversations about ED that can diminish embarrassment and teach men about causes, prevention, and natural treatment options, so they can maintain their sXual potency late into life.
So let’s talk about some important things to understand about Erectile Dysfunction:
Erectile Dysfunction doesn’t happen overnight.
Before there’s full-on erectile dysfunction, there are almost always a number of symptomatic warning signs. And symptoms are information - if we pay attention we can respond by offering our system the support it needs. These precursor symptoms include trouble getting or staying hard, trouble climaxing, a diminished orgasm, low libido or loss of interest in sex, and a loss or low incidence of morning wood which, despite its cheeky name, is a critical indicator of overall male health.
These symptoms might be a nuisance, but ignoring them is the worst thing you can do because it’s when they first show up that you have the ideal opportunity to intervene with some whole-system support to enhance blood flow to the region and restore sexual vitality.
2. Erectile Dysfunction is Holistic
Sexual potency signifies robust overall health. Studies consistently indicate that the majority of cases of ED correlate with at least one of the following: low testosterone levels, heart disease, obesity, poor circulation (a sedentary lifestyle), and diabetes or pre-diabetes.
These conditions are also rampant in the modern world, due predominantly to a combination of poor dietary and lifestyle choices, a lack of physical activity and movement, environmental chemicals, and chronic, low-grade, long-term stress. Making changes to our overall health supports our sexual health, and if we take on an honest assessment of our habits and choices, we may very well find room for improvement.
Recognizing health as holistic also reminds us that if we only use pharmaceuticals to treat ED we overlook its root cause, and fail to help the body restore its own innate sexual potency. Pharmaceuticals are certainly effective at reviving sexual function for the evening, and they’re a wonderful choice in some cases, but they will not restore sexual vitality at the source.
3. There is so much we can do naturally to support sexual vitality
Working with herbal medicine for potency is not only symptomatic treatment but also offers prevention and maintenance. By reviving blood flow to sex organs, reducing cortisol, and enhancing testosterone levels, especially over time as men age, we improve energy levels, libido, and sexual vitality.
Herbal medicine is one of the most effective ways to do this and a number of herbs have been used for centuries to do this very thing in the male population, and they’ve been backed by science and clinical trials. We see that in regions where these herbs are used consistently over time, men tend to remain sexually active and virile far later into life, and that they’re often a first line of defense in European medicine. (More on the history of herbal medicine for male sexual health here.)
Herbs like horny goat weed, yohimbe, and muira puama, are some of the best herbs we have for drastically enhancing blood flow to the male genitalia, which is often enough to revive sXual potency, especially when taken over time. You can find such herbs in formulas like #12 and #19.
In other instances building sexual potency requires addressing the system in a more foundational way - working to build testosterone, reduce cortisol, and enhance overall sexual energy by working with herbal medicine steadily over time. Our male virility formula is a wonderful way to do just that.
What’s important to remember if you’re struggling with sexual performance now or in the future is that there’s no need to be embarrassed - your body is simply asking for support, and that support is absolutely available. You might even find you feel better than ever.
(Note: some rarer cases of ED are due to nerve damage, other anatomical issues, or heart conditions. If ED is non-responsive to holistic treatment or becomes a chronic issue it is important to see a doctor to rule out any more serious underlying causes.)
